Community Guidelines

1. Content that is prohibited

You must not post content that:

• belongs to another person and to which you do not hold rights;
• is obscene, pornographic, paedophilic, or harmful to a child;
• is defamatory, or invades another’s privacy, including bodily privacy;
• is insulting or harassing on the basis of gender, religion, caste, or any protected characteristic;
• is racially or ethnically objectionable, or encourages hatred between groups;
• threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, or public order;
• incites any cognisable offence, or prevents the investigation of one;
• impersonates another person;
• is knowingly false and communicated to cause injury, including misinformation about another member’s payments;
• contains a virus or any code designed to disrupt the service;
• relates to or encourages money laundering or gambling.

2. Conduct specific to savings circles

Because money is involved, the following are also prohibited:

• Falsely recording a payment. Marking a contribution as paid when it was not is the most serious breach possible on Beeshi.
• Falsely verifying a payment. An administrator who confirms a payment that did not happen abuses the trust of the whole circle.
• Pressuring someone into standing as guarantor. A guarantee must be freely given.
• Recruiting strangers. Beeshi is for circles of people who know each other. Do not use it to assemble a circle from strangers.
• Promising returns. Do not present a circle as an investment, a scheme, or anything yielding a guaranteed return.
• Lending at interest through the application, or using a circle as a front for a lending business.
• Shaming a member who has fallen behind. Raise it with them, or with the administrator.

Photographs of other people. Do not post a photograph of someone who has asked you not to, and never post an image of a child outside your own family.

3. Reporting, and what we do

Any member can report content or another member from within the application, or write to grievance@beeshi.in. You can also block another member, which stops direct contact between you.

• We acknowledge every complaint within 24 hours.
• We resolve complaints within 15 days of receipt.
• Content exposing a person’s private area, or showing them in a state of nudity or a sexual act, whether real or impersonated, is removed within 24 hours of a valid complaint.
• We remove or disable content on receipt of a court order or lawful government direction, within the time that order specifies.

Depending on severity we may remove content, warn a member, suspend an account, or terminate it. We may also remove a member from a circle while leaving their ledger record intact, because removing the record would harm the other members. Where we act against you we will tell you why, and you may contest it.

Some content is screened automatically before it is shown. Automated screening is imperfect — if something of yours was removed in error, contest it and a person will look at it.

4. What we cannot do

• We cannot recover your money. If a member of your circle does not pay, Beeshi can show the record but cannot collect the debt.
• We cannot adjudicate a dispute between members about whether a payment was made.
• We do not vet the members of your circle. You are choosing who to trust.
